Brent Carers Centre, in which we have provided support for thousands of carers and their families for over 25 years, is facing an uncertain future. The charity, in which we are celebrating its Silver Jubilee on the 21st November 2019, may no longer be funded by Brent Council. This will have a devastating impact on the services it provides for carers in Brent.

Irene Lewis, our Chair of the Board of Trustees says:

“All the board and many of the staff are carers and former carers, we are experts in this field, and have always gone that extra mile to meet the needs of carers.  I am devastated that we may not be able to continue to provide this service.  The people we provide care for are very vulnerable and this will have a major impact on their lives as well as the people they care for.”

We have won many awards in our 25 year history including winning the award for Best Independent Carer Support Service – London for last three years running, and only last year were nominated by local MP Dawn Butler for the Care & Compassion Award at the NHS 70 Parliamentary Awards in 2018.

Carers support will still be available in the borough, but may be delivered by a different organisation, seeking to expand on its range of limited services being delivered in the borough!

For more information please attend the Carers Forum at Sudbury Methodist Church Hall on 30th October 2019 between 10am and 1pm.
