Library books delivered to your door. This service is for people of all ages who find it difficult to get to a library due to a disability, age related problems, ill-health, caring responsibilities or similar.
Elders Voice provide practical and social services to the older people in the Borough.
This includes an Accident Prevention Service help keep vulnerable people safe and secure in their homes. The service can carry out basic repairs, improvements and adaptations such as electrical, carpentry and plumbing jobs. Homeshare is a scheme that matches people who want help or support around the house with people who need accommodation and are willing to help. The service helps people from all walks of life in need of an extra helping hand at home in London. To find out more visit the website.
This is a part of Linking Lives UK, a national charity and befriending network to reduce loneliness and support isolated older people.
The service is for people aged 60+. Volunteer befrienders make home visits weekly or fortnightly. Visits last about one hour and can include a short walk to the local park or local places of interest. The service does not include shopping.
SIBI aims to tackle loneliness and social isolation in Brent by signposting people who are isolated to the wealth of clubs, groups, classes and activities in Brent.
They talk with people about their interests, whether that’s art, sport, music, going to a lunch club or playing dominos. From a regularly updated list of 1,100 activities in Brent they can suggest activities in the local community.
Also, they signpost to other resources to help tackle underlying issues such as transport, counselling or peer support.
SIBI is funded by Brent Adult Social Care and Brent Public Health.
The University of the Third Age (U3A) is a voluntary organisation which provides, life-enhancing and life-changing opportunities for older people. In Brent U3A takes place in different settings around the Borough. People meet, discuss and learn new things that they are interested in their own time at their own pace.
We will be closed for the Christmas and New Year holidays from 1pm on Friday 20 December 2019, and will re-open on Thursday 2nd January 2020 at 9am.
